Pear Ginger Crisp with Pumpkin Seed Topping

Updated: Dec 9, 2025

Why do our taste buds simply beg us for comfort food once the temperature dips? Today I was craving something warm from the oven — but since I prefer cooking over baking, I chose the simplest of cold-weather treats: a crisp that’s easy as pie. Well, even easier.

Using my favorite apple crisp recipe, I made a few fall-friendly upgrades:

Swap out apples for pears. Pears need less sugar and bring a subtle, soothing flavor that’s perfect this time of year. I love Anjou pears, but any will do.

Use almond flour instead of wheat flour for a soft, nutty crumble.

Add a teaspoon of cardamom and a teaspoon of dried ginger to the topping mix for warmth and depth.

• Top with Hopebird Ginger Snappy Pumpkin Seeds for crunch, plant-based organic protein, and the spicy kick of crystallized ginger.

Serve your crisp warm with a big scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Drizzle with caramel or butterscotch sauce if you're feeling extra-fancy. Finally, finish with a handful of Hopebird Ginger Snappy Pumpkin Seeds.
